Year 1 outdoor learning

Year 1 have been making the most of the sunshine. We took our learning outside and made 2D shape patterns using a range of resources including nature! Look at the patterns we made using sticks, stones, chalks and lollipop sticks.

Year 2 Trip to St. John’s Museum

Last week, Year 2 enjoyed a successful trip to St. John’s Museum. They experienced what it would have been like to go to school in Victorian Times. They had to work in silence and sit up very straight!
They also looked at 2 different Victorian houses. Did you know that a wealthy family might have had 10 or more servants to look after them?
Another fun part of the day was a visit to a Victorian kitchen. The children made washing powder, then used a dolly stick to agitate the clothes and a mangle to squeeze out the excess water. What hard work!
The behaviour was excellent and the children were a real credit to the school. Well done!

Appeal for Flowers

At the annexe we have a fantastic new flowerbed but at the moment it hasn’t got many flowers! We would be very grateful if anyone would like to donate some pansies, maybe repot a primula or just bag up some bulbs so that we can plant them with the children. This would greatly improve our outside space and support our science learning. Please pass any donations to Mrs Cooke.
Many thanks in advance from the KS1 team.

Year 5 Trip to Dorset

Over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of March, Year 5 made their way down to Weymouth to a fantastic PGL resort called Osmington Bay.

There they took part in a range of team-building activities, a (rather chilly) beach visit and tied this all in with a visit to the Tank Museum in Bovington as part of their World War II topic.

The children were simply fantastic and really showed what wonderful children we have at our school. Obviously, huge thanks must go to all involved making it happen: Mrs Barr, Mrs Richards, Mrs Anderson, Miss Johnson, Mrs Price and Mrs Gibbs and also Ms Patane for all her orgnanising. The trip simply wouldn’t happen without all the effort of our hard-working staff.

Piano available – Free to anyone who can collect.

The school has a piano that is available to anyone who can come and get it. This week! Please contact the school office if you are interested. It is not the same as the photo.
